In 1961, Webb Presbyterian Church and Fairview Chapel combined to become Fairview Presbyterian Church. The new church, along with Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church, shared the ministry of Rev. John Boyd and Rev. Eldon Wadsworth. Next to serve Fairview was Rev. Sam Austin, ministering for six years.
In January of 1964, the Session saw the need of additional facilities to better serve the area and further the Gospel of Christ. A building fund was started in 1964, and in February of 1965, the congregation elected a building committee.
Thanks to the generosity of several Gardner ‘heirs,’ land just east of the church was secured and groundbreaking was held on March 22, 1970. Rev. John Ricks Jr. was installed in April of 1973, along with his ‘good lady’ Mamye. And finally, on September 2nd, 1973, Rev. Ricks and Elder Esau Nester led the congregation across the road to a new church home.
With strong men of faith leading the congregation such as Peter Smith, Levi Humphries, Jonathan Smith, and Ron Kronk, Fairview experienced strong physical and spiritual growth. Recent additions to the church included a new gazebo and an upstairs meeting room and bathrooms. Most recently, Fairview ordained and equipped Rev. Ben Behrendt and sent him out to become a chaplain in the United States Army.
God has been faithful to Fairview Presbyterian Church throughout the years, and we look forward to glorifying Him through our worship and our service to the world.
